Hungarian business Narke says it’s developing the world’s first production electric jet ski.
The company says the Narke differs from traditional jet skis in technology, sound and appearance. Dubbed the “Electrojet”, a prototype is being tested on the ‘Hungarian Sea’.
Narke means a genus of electric rays which can deliver a powerful electric shock.
A light carbon-fibre reinforced composite is used to provide sleek styling and allow the Narke to glide on top of the water or cut through it at an electronically limited speed of up to 55km/h.
A water-cooled 45kW AC motor and a removable lithium-ion battery pack capable of recharging to 80% in two hours provide the power.
Narke says the battery should provide one-and-a-half hours of “normal use”. It can be swapped if more time is needed on the water.
It also features a digital display.
Pricing and other details haven’t yet been released.
