Former Toyota head to drive AHG

Ex-Toyota Australia chief executive Tony Cramb is chief operating officer of Automotive Holdings Group (AHG) in franchised automotive from October 22.

Three decades of Toyota experience have elevated Cramb to the role at AHG, where he will join managing director John McConnell steering Australia’s largest automotive retailer.

AHG says Cramb has “a track record of delivering exceptional commercial outcomes, leading business transformation and putting people and customers at the heart of the operations”.

McConnell says Cramb’s appointment is a win for the business, not just because of his Toyota acumen.

“Tony is an exceptional leader,” McConnell says. “Equally as important is his industry knowledge.

“I am confident he will work effectively with the leadership team to set the broader strategy and expectations for delivery, and will then work closely with the vehicle manufacturers to execute,” McConnell explains.

“He will bring a collaborative and engaging style of leadership to our franchised automotive business.”

Cramb has been “working on the Gold handicap” since August, having departed Toyota Australia in December 2017.

Over the last 10 months, a prospecting Cramb says he has been “looking for a business challenge that needs fixing or a new business that needs nurturing”.
“Doesn’t matter how complex or how many people involved. Automotive industry probably makes the most sense but not necessarily,” he writes on LinkedIn.
