Brisbane electric vehicle technology company Tritium has won the 2018 Premier of Queensland’s Exporter of the Year Award.
The company changing the face of the global EV industry received the award at a ceremony in Brisbane on October 11, also winning the Manufacturing Award.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk congratulates Tritium, which has developed electronic systems and battery energy-storage applications to boost EV charging speeds.
It was the first company to receive support through her Government’s Queensland Business Development Fund.
“Tritium is a Queensland success story and is contributing to Queensland’s record merchandise export figures, while also supporting a cleaner and healthier environment here and around the world,” Palaszczuk says.
“Queensland Government funding has helped Tritium establish its headquarters and main manufacturing plant in Brisbane with additional sales and manufacturing in two key markets in Europe and the United States, leading to 97% of revenue in 2018 being generated by export sales.
“Queensland is an export state with almost one out of every four dollars Australia earns from goods exports generated right here, so it is important we acknowledge and celebrate our export champions with these awards.”
Tritium chief executive officer and co-founder David Finn accepted the two awards.
“While the Australian EV market continues to expand, global markets, particularly in parts of Europe and in the US, are far advanced and so 98% of our business is exported,” he says.
“It has been very satisfying to compete so successfully on the global stage and I thank all our team and our supporters in Australia for making this possible.”
This year has been a standout for Tritium.
It unveiled the Veefil-PK high-power charger which can add 150km of range to an EV in just five minutes, sealed a major deal with the Ionity network to deliver the Veefil-PK to 100 sites across Europe, and installed its 50th public fast charger in Australia.
The awards have 17 categories, and winners of the industry awards will be automatically entered in the Australian Export Awards in Canberra on November 27.
