Toyota Corolla hatch adds petrol-electric hybrid option

Toyota has updated its Corolla hatch, as well as offering a petrol-electric hybrid choice.

The three hybrid versions, the Toyota Corolla hatch SX hybrid CVT, ZR hybrid CVT and Ascent Sport hybrid CVT have been updated with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, as well as new safety and convenience features.

Customers can choose between three grades with a choice of 1.8L petrol-electric hybrid or 125kW 2.9L petrol power.

Toyota sales and marketing vice president Sean Hanley says the upgrades provides customers with an “improved ownership experience.”

“When Toyota launched the new Corolla hatch last year, our customers appreciated the high level of safety and features in the car but technology is always evolving and Toyota is keen to offer customers more options to further improve the vehicles they drive, whether from a safety, comfort or style perspective.”

The SX and ZR versions of the Corolla hatch features a new parking support, that operates at low speeds and uses sensors to detect static objects and rear crossing vehicles.

The mid-range Corolla SX and ZR also gain rear cross-traffic alert. Drivers will be alerted to the presence of vehicles passing behind the car via a warning buzzer.

The Corolla ZR variants gain new colourways, with the option of a new two-tone paint finish with a black roof, pillars and hatch-top spoiler complementing a variety of body colours.

The updated Corolla hatch will arrive in Toyota dealerships across Australia on November 1.
