Chargegfox has opened its seventh ultra-rapid charging station, this time in Moe, Victoria.

It delivers up to 400km range in 15 minutes and using 100% renewable energy.

“This is the first of seven new locations we will be opening over the summer,” Chargefox chief executive Marty Andrews says.

“The new charging station in Moe is a significant milestone, enabling EV drivers to travel from Melbourne to Victoria’s beautiful Latrobe Valley region and through to Sale, Maffra and Lakes Entrance without any long charging stops.”

Andrews says it’s a stepping-stone to connect Australia’s major cities for EV drivers.

Victoria energy, environment and climate change minister Lily D’Ambrosio says EV uptake will help reduce emissions and tackle climate change.

“More Victorians will be driving electric vehicles in the future, that’s why we’re supporting Chargefox to build the infrastructure needed to meet this demand.”

RACV home and energy division executive general manager Nicole Brasz says the Moe station will allow more Victorians to travel in their EVs with greater confidence.

“We will continue to invest in emerging technology and infrastructure like Chargefox, solar systems at RACV resorts and in our members’ homes to improve the lives of all Victorians.”

The Chargefox Moe site was built with significant support from local Latrobe Valley businesses including Gippsland Solar and Fowlers Asphalting.

With an additional 15 ultra-rapid charging stations in development, the Chargefox ultra-rapid network will soon connect Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide, as well as having additional stations in Western Australia and Tasmania.

“This new site in Moe is the next stepping stone on our journey to connect Australia’s major cities for the thousands of drivers using efficient, clean electric vehicles.”

The Moe station has two 350kW capable Tritium chargers, plus two additional 50kW capable chargers, equipped with both Chademo and CCS2 plug types, making them suitable for all current and future DC-capable EVs, including Teslas when used with an adapter.

Chargefox has been operating charging stations across Australia and New Zealand for two years and has managed more than 55,000 charging sessions for drivers via its iPhone and Android mobile apps.
