EV owners in bushfire areas can get free EV charging through Jet Charge (Chargefox) stations.
Fires came within about 500 metres of its Euroa charging stations in Victoria, but Melbourne-based Jet Charge director Tim Washington says that “thankfully” they haven’t had any major incidents yet.
“It truly is awful,” he says of the fires, adding the company has made charging free for those affected in bushfire areas.
Melissa Erickson of Euroa shared a Facebook post of the nearby Balmattum Hill ablaze, which was likened to lava by the Maindample Rural Fire Brigade.
Bushfires have also led to power cuts in some areas but it’s unknown how this may have affected EV owners.
