Australia may be the third largest market in the world for Tesla’s Cybertruck.
Reports suggest Australia has the third highest number of Cybertruck reservation holders at 3.16% – behind the US (76.25%) and Canada (10.43%).
Cybertruck sales could provide more than US$1.5 billion for Tesla.
The information was obtained from 1800 Cybertruck reservation holders and shared by online Tesla fan forum Cybertruck Talk, which lists the top 10 countries for orders.
It adds that Tesla has not published figures about Cybertruck orders by country, the information instead crowdsourced from members of the Tesla enthusiast community.
Tesla hasn’t yet released pricing for Australia, but expectations are that it could cost about A$63,200 — not including shipping, import duties, luxury car tax or on-road costs. A dual-motor version could cost A$80,780 and the triple motor version A$113,156, Clean Technica reports.
The Cybertruck electric ute was revealed in November with variants due to enter production from late 2021.
It’s expected to have more than 800km range, tow about 6300kgs, carry a 1600kg payload and accelerate from 0 to 96km/h in under 2.9 seconds.
