Mega NSW energy project proposed

A $3.5 billion proposal by Infinite Blue Energy could see a hydrogen, solar and wind energy plant established in New South Wales.

Project NEO may provide up to 1000MW of power to the state and steer it towards 100% renewable energy within seven years, RenewEconomy reports.

Converting solar and wind to green hydrogen would mean less dependability on weather conditions, Infinite Blue Energy says.

NEO would needs about 1250 hectares for solar and 235 wind turbines, able to power about two million homes, the company adds.

Green energy is expected to encourage EV uptake as well.

Skilled workers could come from NSW coal-fired power stations, the project expected to be “coming soon”, it says.

NEO is among several proposed “mega projects” aiming to store or export electricity.
