Ohmie Go has launched a private electric vehicle sharing service in Melbourne.
In a partnership with Jet Charge and Hyundai Australia, it will see two Hyundai Kona electric SUVs based at EQ Towers, an apartment complex owned by ICD Property.
The two EVs will be offered for rent by the day or hour to the apartments’ residents, available using a smartphone app.
Ohmie wants to do the same at similar residential developments throughout Australia.
The service means not having to own a car with all the costs that come with that, Ohmie Go chief executive officer Kyle Bolto says.
He says personal mobility is changing rapidly.
Vehicle to grid (V2G) technology is also developing with Ohmie planning to use that to offset building power demands and for emergency back-up.
Information from the EQ Tower Ohmie Go project will help improve the service.
The company also plans to investigate other forms of electric transport like micro-mobility and extend its service to other commercial applications.
Ohmie Go says it wants to help the property sector improve urban mobility and sustainability.
