The Tesla Model 3 price has again been reduced in Australia, this time to $59,990 for the Standard Range Plus before on-road costs and incentives.
It’s the third drop in about nine months and makes the Standard Range Plus eligible for rebates in some states like New South Wales and Victoria, the price reduction also applying in New Zealand.
Efficiencies at Tesla’s Shanghai factory are said to be a factor in the price drop, with deliveries expected to become more regular – another 1200 Teslas reportedly arriving at Port Kembla recently.
The Tesla configurator includes Australian pricing which can range from $62,500 and $66,300 drive-away, depending on the state or territory where the EV is registered.
In New South Wales, for instance, the $64,648 drive away cost is expected to drop further in September when a $3000 rebate for new EVs (under $68,750) kicks in along with stamp duty waiver (under $78,000), but it is subject to a road user charge from about July 2027.
Victoria’s incentives include a $3000 subsidy for the first 4000 registrations for EVs under $68,740, although a road user charge applies.
Queensland and Tasmania also have EV incentives, with some Tesla models expected to come in below the Luxury Car Tax thresholds too.
The Tesla Model 3 is Australia’s most popular new EV with the latest price drop expected to cement that and pitch it well against other EV brands.
