Tesla Model 3 viewings start

Tesla Model 3 reservation holders in New Zealand and Australia are getting a close look at the new left-hand drive electric sedan.

First up is the Tesla Auckland invitation event on August 15, followed by simultaneous showings on August 21 at Tesla stores in Sydney’s central business district, Chadstone in Melbourne and Tesla Brisbane.

The Tesla Auckland event means many who placed reservations more than two years ago will see the Model 3 up close for the first time, the invitation says.

EVtalk has been invited to the Auckland showing.

Specifications will be provided at the venues. Test drives won’t be held, although guests can sit inside the vehicles to get a close look at the expansive glass roof, premium interior and 15-inch touchscreen display.

Model S and Model X vehicles are also expected to be on display.

Australian Tesla stores plan to have product specialists available to share the latest Tesla products and updates and answer questions.

The Model 3 has been in production more than a year but Tesla has only recently achieved significant volume production. The company expects to hit 6000 weekly by the end of August and 10,000 weekly sometime next year.

Right-hand drive versions are likely to be ready around mid-2019.
