Tritium opens LA e-mobility centre

The LA e-mobility centre is officially opened.

Australian EV charging specialist Tritium has opened the Tritium E-Mobility Innovation Centre in Los Angeles for US EV testing of DC charger operations and to expand its sales pipeline.

The company also unveiled its next-generation EV charger designed for and available exclusively to the US market, the RT175s, available later this year.

The new RT175s can add 175km range to an EV in just 10 minutes charge. It’s based on the world-leading 350kW DC High Power Chargers (HPCs) being deployed as part of the Ionity network in Europe, and with the Chargefox and Evie networks in Australia.

Tritium’s LA centre will also expand manufacturing and logistics capabilities for the Brisbane-based company and provide a customer-focused research and development facility.

“We outgrew our previous facility in Torrance faster than we ever expected, which is a testament not only to the team we have and the technology we can produce, but also to the growing demand for electric vehicle infrastructure in the United States and in particular California,” Tritium Americas president Jeff Wolfe says.

“The RT175s can be deployed anywhere and we see it being ideally suited to urban areas and within industries requiring tailored solutions, such as ports, fleets and any industry looking to electrify its automotive operations.”

The shift to a new, larger facility follows a deal with SSA Marine to supply the Port of Long Beach in California with 33 modified RT175s DC HPCs for its fleet of electric-drive terminal tractors automatically and simultaneously.
