The Ford Motor Company has announced it will unveil the all-new F-150 Lightning electric pick-up in a livestream from its world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan om May 19.
The reveal takes place at 9:30 p.m. EDT, and will be broadcast live across physical and digital destinations, including the Ford social media channels as well as 18 locations such as Times Square in New York City and Las Vegas Boulevard.
Ford president and chief executive Jim Farley says like the Model T, Mustang, Prius and Model 3, the F-150 Lightning will disrupt the status quo and change the game.
“America’s favourite vehicle for nearly half a century is going digital and fully electric,” Farley says.
“The F-150 Lightning can power your home during an outage; it’s even quicker than the original F-150 Lightning performance truck; and it will constantly improve through over-the-air updates.”
“The truck of the future will be built with quality and a commitment to sustainability by Ford-UAW workers at the Ford Rouge Complex which is our most advanced plant,” he says.
Production of the F-150 Lightning begins in the 2021 Northern Hemisphere spring at the all-new Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Centre.
