Australian software developer ServTech has acquired Italian virtual reality (VR) software house Vection.
Volvo Car Italy signed Vection to distribute its augmented reality (AR) technology across 63 Volvo dealerships.
“Vection’s AR technology is the ideal solution for our car dealerships to showcase our vehicles’ first-class safety features and our overarching mission to put people first and make every car safer for everyone,” Volvo Car Italy sales and marketing director Chiara Angeli says.
Vection will provide Volvo with hardware and software and showcase its vehicle safety features through AR.
Volvo and Vection have an agreement to develop AR software for the Volvo XC40 to showcase its hybrid electric technology.
“The automotive industry represents the initial target market under the company’s overarching global commercialisation strategy, and this agreement is affirming ServTech as a global VR and AR software company,” ServTech managing director Gianmarco Biahi says.
Biahi says the agreement has been an essential step for the company.
ServTech announced its intention to acquire Vection in January 2019. Vection has developed VR showrooms for brands like Lamborghini, Maserati and Bonfiglioli.
